Hear hear...my sentiments exactly. As proud as I am of our atheletes, after seeing some of our US Ski Team fans bare chested and body painted like football fans whooping it up on the world stage...I couldn't help but cringe a bit, and wish that some of that humility you describe during the parade of nations would carry over into the actual events.

Well I think you and I are cut from the same cloth...I marvel at the same things...these tiny little unknown countries striding in the Parade leaves me humbled. Never fails to choke me up. This world is so much bigger than our US of A...we forget about that. For us, it seems to me anyway, our world begins in New York and ends in LA.
Everything/everywhere else is protrayed as "less than."
I'm with you on the underdogs raising an Olympian...those are sweet moments, indeed.

Katy, this is great...I remember reading it the first time and even better now. Really think this genre is where you excel. (not that I'm not loving "Meeting Darkness" mind you!
